As a Consultant and Trainer for the past 15 years, John has taught hundreds of students to improve profitability and quality. He has been widely praised for his lively and engaging courses, presented in both public and corporate venues. Because John has both broad and deep subject matter expertise, he is highly effective in relating course concepts to the real-world business needs of his clients.
For example, while teaching Quality Management Systems implementation and auditing (ISO 9001 and other sector specific standards), he incorporates side-bar topics such as Six Sigma, Lean, FMEA and other topics (according to student needs and interests), which he also teaches as stand-alone courses.
In addition to his exceptional instructional skills and his depth of knowledge in the many subjects he teaches, John also has a broad experience-base in diverse industries such as healthcare, automotive, medical device, aerospace, government, insurance, and more. John has coached over 50 organizations in their successful implementation of internationally recognized Quality Management Systems standards.
In recent years, John’s professional passion has been to leverage his Manufacturing Quality Management background to consult with healthcare organizations. He teaches clients to use quality management principles that are widely used in manufacturing to drive quality improvement. With John’s passionate approach to quality and his exceptional teaching skills, his Healthcare clients have greatly improved their level of Quality of Patient Care, Error Reduction, and Continual Quality Improvement.
Prior to consulting and training, John spent 30 years in the plastic industry. He has held positions including Plant Manager for several facilities, Director of Manufacturing Operations, and Vice President of Engineering and Quality.
In his leadership roles, John personally implemented Lean, created self directed work forces, and initiated employee empowerment. On the technical and engineering side, he holds several design patents.
John’s education includes Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He is a member of Pi Tau Sigma – National Honor Society of A.S.M.E. John is a certified IRCA Lead Auditor and a surveyor for the new ISO 9001 based hospital accreditation system.
